Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
